Stereo saturation with separate input, processing and output control
MBX is a stereo saturation processor in the Box Line Double range, designed to add character to line-level sources, buses, stems and the mix bus. Its operating flow keeps three key stages separate — input level, amount of saturation and output level — so the processing can be integrated into gain staging in a controlled way.
Gain In, Magic, and Master Out
Gain In is continuously variable from −20 to +20 dB and sets the level feeding the processor. % Magic continuously adjusts the amount of saturation, while Turbo Magic increases it further. Master Out uses a relative 0–100 scale to set the final output level.
Metering and comparison
The two VU meters provide different information: V IN shows the input signal level, while MAGIC follows the level within the processed section. Bypass removes the saturation processing and lets you hear the unprocessed signal. For a more useful comparison, match the perceived level before judging the effect of the processing.
Line-level integration
MBX operates on two L/R channels with shared controls and uses balanced line-level XLR inputs and outputs. The external 24 V DC power supply is included. It is suitable for mixing engineers and producers working with preamplified vocals, bass, synths, buses, stems and the mix bus in hardware chains or hybrid workflows.
